OCR Text Processing, Level 3, Unit 1: Text Production (Advanced): Unit Specification
The Text Production (Advanced) qualification is the core Unit within the OCR Level 3 Certificate in Text Processing. The OCR Level 3 Certificate in Text Processing has been designed to assess candidates' ability to apply advanced processing and production skills to produce a variety of complex business documents.
The Text Production (Advanced) Unit requires candidates to produce three business documents (a letter, a memorandum and a report or article, one of which will be a multi-page document) from a variety of handwritten and typewritten draft material, to a standard that meets the business document production requirements of employment at a senior level.
Assessment takes the form of an OCR-set and marked examination. The examination will be 1 hour 15 minutes, in which time candidates are required to carry out all assessment tasks within the stated error tolerance. In order to subject candidates to realistic disruptions that may be encountered in the workplace, the invigilator will interrupt the candidates during the exam to announce items of information that must be included at a later stage. Results will be graded Distinction, Pass or Fail and the grade achieved will be stated on the candidate's certificate.
In order to achieve the full Certificate qualification at Level 3, candidates are required to achieve the Text Production (Advanced) Unit plus one of the optional units. A candidate who achieves the Text Production (Advanced) Unit plus three optional Units within a two-year period, will be awarded an OCR Level 3 Diploma in Text Processing. Certification is available for single Units.
