Partnerhip Working - Examples
DPCF continually and actively participates in, and works to strengthen, existing partnerships. The organisation continues to forge new links, and form new partnerships, with entities whose objects coincide with those of DPCF and whose work benefits both its own constituent community and other communities.
- DPCF is currently continuing its working partnership with the Lower Ormeau Residents’ Action Group and the Markets Development Association aimed at achieving the realisation of the Cromac Regeneration Initiative project involving the capital purchase of a building located at the junction of the Ormeau Road and Donegall Pass and the employment of an ‘Inter-Community Development Worker’. - DPCF continues to be represented on the “South Belfast Employability Forum” (meeting, usually monthly, in the offices of GEMS NI, Fanum House).
- DPCF is an active member of, and participant in, the South Belfast Roundtable on Racism – at committee level and sub-committee level (encompassing ‘good relations’ and ‘education’ sub-committees).
- Together with the Chinese Welfare Association, the Polish community, the South Belfast Highway To Health, the South Belfast Roundtable on Racism and the Ulster People’s College, DPCF has actively participated in a ‘Shared History’ Project. The work of this project continues to be exhibited at various venues.
- DPCF is a registered RaW centre. With outreach activity throughout the UK and broadcast content across every platform, RaW is not only the biggest adult literacy campaign the BBC has ever undertaken, it is the first to have entertainment at its core.
- The organisation is represented on the Committee of the Belfast Interface Project - which aims to engage in the development of creative approaches towards the regeneration of Belfast’s interface or ‘peaceline’ areas.
- DPCF, together with the Lower Ormeau Road Action Group, the Markets Development Association and Mornington Enterprises is represented on the Inner South Belfast Neighbourhood Partnership.
- DPCF is represented on the Board of Inner City South Belfast Sure Start, which has a presence in the locality. Through this representation, DPCF plays an active role in shaping childcare policy and ensuring that local needs are met.
- DPCF works in partnership with Belfast City Council – particularly with reference to the council-managed Donegall Pass Community Centre and the resource-input and facilitation it provides concerning localised needs. Catering sector specific training is accessed through BCC for Cantonese and Mandarin-speaking people.
- DPCF maintains close links with Belfast Metropolitan College, Workers’ Educational Association and the Ulster People’s College in the areas of training and education relating to subjects not currently within the purview (or outside the expertise) of DPCF delivery. Such training and education programmes are normally delivered locally.
- An excellent working partnership relationship has been maintained with Queens University (School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering) with regard, in particular, to the ‘Donegall Pass Action Research Project’ (Contested Cities – Urban Universities or “CU2”) – funded by BLSP. The underlying theme of the project is community planning and regeneration. See http://www.qub.ac.uk/ep/research/cu2/dpstudy.html
The above list is, by no means, exhaustive, however, it should provide a ‘flavour’ of continuing background activities which engage the organisation’s time and resources. Quick Links:
